Respond have spent the first 18 months of their life as a band making a name for themselves as one of Peterborough’s hardest working acts. Ask any of their fans and they will happily tell you that this is a band you should not miss the chance to see live. Their onstage chemistry and catchy rock anthems have proved hugely popular with crowds all across the UK.
With edgy, classy rock tunes infused with undertones of pop and punk, together with heartfelt and often deeply personal lyrics and strong guitar led melodies, they are already being hailed as a force to be reckoned with by industry insiders.
A refreshing change from the current indie trend they launched themselves on an unsuspecting public in March last year and have since worked relentlessly playing shows all across the UK, including at legendary venues such as The Cavern in Liverpool, The Garage, The Standard, The Water Rats, 93 Feet East, The Rock Garden and The Camden Barfly in London to name but a few.
In their first year the band landed coveted slots at Strawberry fair and The Cambridge Rock Festival, supported chart-toppers Rooster at the Met Lounge, played live on BBC television for Children In Need, won their first professional competition at Londons National Battle Of The Bands and had their songs, live acoustic sessions and interviews featured on both Radio Cambridgeshire and Lite F.M locally.
Their second year is already bringing bigger and better things for the female fronted four piece. To date they have already supported hot breaking new act The Draytones on their UK tour, and their most popular songs Million Little Pieces, Underdog, Lesson Learnt, and the haunting Not Like That have been played on London’s Total Rock Radio, Radio Basile in Italy, All FM in Manchester, and Radio Cambridgeshire.
They have also received rave reviews from national music press including The NME, and StreetVoice Magazine, who featured an in depth interview with fiesty singer Hayley-Ann Roberts. Playmusic magazine also selected Respond as their Unsigned Band Of The Week, publishing a 3 page photo shoot with the band and featuring their anthem for the downtrodden ‘Underdog’ on their compilation CD.
The future continues to look bright for the band who will be taking their energetic live show on tour in June, July and August playing some of the larger UK festivals, universities and high profile venues so there should be plenty of opportunities to catch them live on stage, both locally and nationally. Alternatively, new live album teaser versions of all their tracks will be routinely posted on their hugely popular myspace page.
Respond also confirm that their first official CD launch party is to be held at Radius in Peterborough on October 6th 2007, with the band playing an exclusive 90min set, and support coming from another fantastic female fronted act, London based Cattiva. Tickets for this unmissable local event will be on sale soon via the bands website and the venue itself.
